Re-Imagined Chairs
The chairs on this page are recycled chairs that have been altered in various ways to become unique sculptural objects. The sculptural chairs were originally created for a public art fundraising project called "Chairful Where You Sit". Funds raised by the sale of the chairs support local public art projects including the painting of outdoor electrical transformer boxes, public murals and banners, and sculptural installations throughout the town.
These chairs often combine parts of at least two existing chairs to create a single non-functional object. They incorporate not only the irony of the shift from everyday functionality to non-function, but also suggest shifts in time as the objects seem to move and twist in space.
